About me

A software and computer engineer by profession who developed the passion since childhood. I later became a believer and evangelist of Free / Libre / Open Source Software (aka FLOSS or FOSS); the movement that elevated my career into something far more satisfying, meaningful and contributing to the greater good of humanity.

I specialize at delivering value by hiring top talent, empowering people, maintaining maximum synergy and productivity and electing the simplest, fastest, and most cost effective technologies.

I worked as GM, CTO, Director, VP of Engineering and Senior Consultant for many organizations; helping them implement full technology-stack solutions, build and manage technical teams and restructure.

I have very versatile technology background and over 15 years of hands-on experience in all facets of Software Development/Programming, Design, Architecture, Engineering, and Management. As an innovative and pragmatic problem solver, I’m recognized for my focus on the bottom line and clear grasp of business and technology. I successfully applied my skills and expertise to building many mission-critical and industrial-strength applications using Free software and Open Source technologies, Software Engineering techniques and methodologies. Let alone becoming one of the most active evangelists of FLOSS in the Arab World.

My radar screen keeps sweeping for the latest innovations out there so I make sure that when deciding / recommending a technology stack / mix we have all options considered. I also developed special interest in computer engineering, hardware, embedded systems and electronics.

Very technically involved in BigData, availability, scalability, Future-proof engineering, GNU/Linux Admin/Dev/Systems, Java/Scala, Php, Databases (RDBMS, NoSQL and Graph).

On this blog I share my personal thoughts, lessons and insights in all facets.
